Are Heat Pumps Energy Efficient?

When you live in Englewood, Florida and have a swimming pool there, the heat to warm the pool water is plentiful and, best of all, free! Florida swimming pool owners benefit from the heat of the day even on days when it’s cool because the air will still retain ambient heat. The ambient heat can be converted to more than 100,000 BTUs to effectively heat your pool water when you use an air-source heat pump system.

Is It Time To Upgrade Your Heating & Cooling Systems?

Now that 2017 is wrapping up and 2018 is fast approaching you may be wondering, “is it time to upgrade your heating & cooling systems?” It is a personal decision as well as an economical one. Whether you’re finding that your heating and cooling bills have risen in the past season or if you can “just tell” that it’s not working as efficiently as it should, it might be time to call in a #geothermal professional to provide a complementary on-site inspection of your heating and cooling systems and give you insight as to the benefits and potential cost savings of upgrading to more energy efficient equipment and upgrading the heating and cooling systems to geothermal.

The Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency founded the Energy Star program in the 1990s as a way to protect the environment and reduce energy usage. They did this by having bright blue Energy Star labels placed on consumer products that met the strict energy guidelines the agency set forth.  Consumers could tell, at a glance, whether the product they were going to buy were energy efficient.tips for upgrading heating and cooling Read More »

How Do GeoThermal Heat Pumps Work?

Did you know that GeoThermal heat pump systems have been used since the 1940s? They use 25-50% less electricity than standard systems and are environmentally friendly. If you need a heat pump for your commercial swimming pool, making a switch to a geothermal system will help your organization reap rewards on lowered utility bills.

An air-source heater is the most common type used to heat swimming pools and close to 50% more energy to perform the same heating task as a geothermal heat pump. Additionally, a geothermal heat pump has fewer moving parts and because the pumps are housed indoors, they are more durable, last longer and pay for themselves.

Hurricane Irma Recovery: Beware Of Unlicensed Contractors

Unfortunately, after a disaster like Hurricane Irma, unscrupulous contractors come out of the woodwork to offer their services to help homeowners repair their homes. In many cases, these unscrupulous contractors are unlicensed, untrained and unregulated. They may perform shoddy work, charge more than they should and the homeowner is left — in some cases — worse off than they were before these “contractors” showed up.

The Better Business Bureau of West Florida explains that “Natural disasters can bring out the best in people and they can bring out the worst. In the aftermath of a crisis scams and unlicensed contractors are out to take advantage of those who have been victimized.” Representatives from the BBB say, “It is common for out-of-town storm chasers to solicit business after storms,” said Karen Nalven, BBB President. “Disaster victims should never feel pressured to make a decision by an unknown contractor.  Consumers should Start With Trust and look for the BBB Accredited Business Seal; these companies are screened, monitored, licensed and trusted.  Storm chasers may not have proper licensure for your area and may offer quick fixes or make big promises to which they won’t deliver.” Read More »

Symbiont Service Team Volunteers During Hurricane Irma Clean-up

Before, during and after #HurricaneIrma, Sandy King, president of Symbiont Service Corp said her employees pulled together to prepare the business to weather the storm. “We had team members boarding up the windows at the store, securing equipment and doing everything necessary to assure everything was as safe as possible,” she said. “We also had a few team members who stayed at the store during the height of the hurricane because they felt safer there than at home.”

After the storm passed, Sandy and her team jumped into action to get the business back up and running, “We knew we were going to have customers who would need to have their pool heaters and their home air conditioning units inspected before they were able to safely turn them back on and we wanted to be ready when our customers needed us.”
